Good evening everyone. Thanks for joining us tonight. We will be starting the webinar at 7 PM Central
Zoom is a great platform for this. Glad you're doing these this way!
By chance is this being recorded for review later... I'd like to just watch and listen and take notes later.
they said it is being recorded
Yes - this is being recorded and we will share the link
volume is not good for Al
can they turn up the volume of this video?
unfortunatly not - sorry
can’t hear the video
Can't hear Al very well at all
they may not be sharing the computer volume with zoom
it's a button you have to hit on the share screen
Turn up his volume please
The sound is much better when closer to the computer playing the video
till very quite
Purell makes a food service and medical service alcohol based sanitizer that most food corporations carry for purchase - our state health department loves that we use it
Our camp does as well.
thanks for the input
my computer died. once I got it plugged in and back on, you guys were in the middle of this game. I missed how to access it
no fun when you have to listen on your phone. 😪
Thanks for playing everyone!
Before it was a Secret. Shhhhh.
I know it was due in December, is it ever to late to file intent to operate. I still need to file.
I just took this over in November for the Council I moved to.
@James Grimes - Send an email to Brian Gray and we can help you throught the process
which standard? I missed the number.
710 Laura - hope you are well!
which 700 standard was that again?
FA710 is the standard that has a replacement page posted on the NCAP website
710 for the garbage single page, 711 for golf carts
For atv do you have to do that training and the ATV instructor course as well
Any chance that we can access a recording of this webinar?
yes, webinar recording will be available
webinar is being recorded and will be put up on the website. we will send you a link
Highlight the Changes so we can easily find them Please!!
Is it possible in the NCAP updates to have what the actual update is rather than just a date saying the standard was updated. It is alot to read and would make it easier for us to know what is changing.
Will you share the code for the training mentioned for Outdoor Adventure Learning
For ATV training your instructor has to attend a week long training certifying them. Of course if they drive a UTV the will also have to take the UTV course
The NCAP Training will be on the resources that we will announce later
Does a Camp Ranger have to take this online course for his ATV usage (maintenance only)?
does this apply to OA events?
Is this UTV instructor course a week long?
UTV for 2020 is a short training online
FA- 711-states this on ATV: ATVs may be used by maintenance personnel or other staff on campproperty when the operator is 18 years of age or older and hascompleted an All-Terrain Vehicle Safety Institute (ASI) safety trainingprogram in its entirety. No deviation is permitted from the courseoutline in the safe operation of the vehicle. Proper personal protectionequipment is used at all times during ATV operation by staff. Nopassengers are allowed.
Short Term Camp is a District Camporee a Short Term Camp?
NYLT? Wood Badge?
Will the OA be adopting the new definition of Long Term Camping as a joining requirement or will there be 2 definitions?
Thank you for this training.
wow this huge! Long over due!
Easy to administrator
So, would each of these short term camps (camporees, etc) require additional/separate intents to operate?
@Henry - we are working with the OA natinoally to help make sure that all questions are answered
If we have a camp that is rented to other groups do we need to meet the short-term camp standards?
so anyone in charge of a “short term camp” will need to do the new Short Term Camp Administrator- online “NCS” training?
We have to assess a camporee? - REALLY
Can one person be the holder of all the overnight camps administration?
So do we need to have a Council team visit every event that will be considered short-term??
I think our Council will need to hire someone just to handle the all this paperwork for MBUs, Cub overnighters etc.
If NYLT is 6 nights, that would be classified as a long term, this would mean that council would require that adults attend NCS to be "director/ pd" ? Am I understanding this right?
@Tylene Byrd - we are workign with Scouting U to develop the implentation plan for NYLT and Woodbadge
Will there need to be a “NCAP Book”(how one fulfills each standard) for each of these Short Term camp events?
Keep in mind that WB and NYLT directors already have to have been to a director's training. Where will this fall in the NCAP process?
WIll we then be able to count all short term camps in the camping report?
NCAP as important as it is, requires many man hours to prepare all the required paperwork - we are super understaffed as it is - this is going to be a challenge but I'm sure we'll figure it out to do this for every event that happens. Just very scary at this point, as a DE for two districts and a resident camp director, adding an assessment to every event in my two districts is going to be rough!
Good question Alan!
Back to intent. Does a long term camp have to have two intent to operates? Property and Long term?
We appreciate the transparency and advanced notice on these topics!
Is there a single document that outlines all the 2020 NCAP changes similarly to the way the "circulars" did in the past?
Yes - the property needs an intent to operate and the program, or programs if you have numerous would need the intents filed
@Todd Yes two intent to operate must be filed
Agree with Matt - I do like the heads up! we have time to prepare:)
will there be any cliff notes to share with folks not seeing this webinar?
it's 1:43 here in Germany
up all night indeed
Where are the links to the other trainings like Harassment and Camp Staff YPT?
what about us over 50?? :-)

Will Mental health workers on camp staff be a Standard in 2021?
We will be looking at mental health as a potential standard, we all need to be making certain everyone is safe in all avenues
Need to teach our staff and campers how to deal with complex emotions.
Where is welcoming new people to camp?
When considering camp standards please include guidelines on eating disorders and self-harm. These are also on the rise in youth
Yes, a single place for Camp Directors to find resources would be great.
We are adding a suicide awareness training as part of our staff training. Our county runs a program and will be sending four people to our camp for two hours. No cost!!!
we will be announcing later in the webinar about a camp diretor resource page that we will be rolling out before camp starts. will be just for YOU!
Camp Director Page-AWESOME!!

GSLAC provided Mental Health First Aid training for all Camp Directors and Program Directors last year. Very helpful course.

College job fairs
Postcard to all "of age" youth in council
Social Media postings, visiting round tables, word of mouth, visited the community college culinary program and started an internship for our Kitchen Manager
Have a camp staff interest session during their camp week.
"Handshake" is the job posting location for most colleges
Posting to Indeed with "External Customer Friendly" terms has been helpful..... don't post "Trading Post" or "Handicraft" or "Scoutcraft"....use terms all can understand ie "Business and Retail Operations, etc"....has increased our non-Scout applicants this season
Even better than fairs is building a relationship with the school's outdoor recreation or adventure leadership departments and using them as a feeder for your staff
During camp - 1 day after a meal with interest forms, cookies, and a Q&A session
We do a promo at NYLT for camp staff. As well as woodbadge

minimum $1,900 for 55 days
Why is it being launched so late?
June 1 is too late for most of the southern region
The Camp Director resource page will be a compliation of many things alraedy available, but compiled in one place.
If you are looking for a certain resource, please dont hesitate to reach out before it goes live.
we keep it in Workbright - does that count?
Could the stuff (that is not released yet) not be added until later when it is released and the resource page gets published earlier than June 1??
Great! where is the training?
i. For family camp and long-term camp—All staff and personnelmust have completed current Unlawful Harassment Preventiononline training, which includes reading and agreeing to theScouter Code of Conduct. Copies of each staff member’sUnlawful Harassment Prevention online training certificatesare retained on-site and at the council office. Onlinetraining link: www.skillsoftcompliance.com/academy/default.aspx?orgid=551502
cannot hear the person talking off camera in the tunnel
can't I just pull it up and show them?
Brian, workbright allows you to run a report and see all of the certificates
Make sure that you designate whether a staff member is a manager or not!!!
Does Harassment prevention have to be redone each year? I have a lot of returning staff.
Our next broadcast will be a great way for you to rethink about how you train your summer camp staff!
Is it really $25/ person?
There will be a small for this particular broadcast to offset the speaker costs but we know it will be well worth your time!
Curious how micro learning will allow us to complete the required number of training hours
Thanks everyone for joining us
What..... No Vespers??????????
Will the recorded version cost money too?
